Hobbies
My main hobbies are music, hiking, and fiber arts. I’ve been playing the flute (among other instruments) since I was in fourth grade, and music has been a huge part of my life ever since. I also enjoy spending time outdoors and exploring nature. Fiber arts are a more recent endeavor, however. I learned to crochet in 2020 during the pandemic, and I recently picked up knitting as well. You can check out some of my performances, hikes, and projects below!
Recent hikes:
Mount Whitney, CA
August 24, 2024
Mount Whitney is the tallest point in the contiguous United States, at 14,505 feet of elevation. We hiked the trail over three days, and it was my first time backpacking! Well worth it for the amazing views of the Sierra Nevada Range.
Fiber arts projects I'm working on:
Soho tank top
August 11, 2024
This was my first foray into making garments, and I'm so happy with how it turned out! I used a cotton/bamboo blend of yarn and followed this pattern from Ravelry. I added a second color for the bottom and trim. This project was a great learning experience, as my first knitted item!
Baby booties
June 02, 2024
A friend of mine recently had a baby, so what better excuse to crochet cute little baby booties! I based this project off a pattern from Ravelry with my own added flair!
Music performances:
Marching band
September 07, 2018
In college at Georgia Tech, I joined the Yellow Jacket Marching Band, in the piccolo section for two years and the drumline for one. This organization was one of the great joys of my college career, bringing me lifetime friends and memories. Go Jackets!
Carnegie Hall
February 12, 2016
In high school I was part of the symphony orchestra under the direction of a great mentor, Chris Simon. In the orchestra, I had many wonderful opportunities to perform, including a tour to Greece, Pennsylvania Music Educators Association Honor Bands, and Carnegie Hall (pictured).
